Prospective students

Open Day

Every year we host Open Day aimed at high school learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12, their families and teachers. Unfortunately, due to restrictions caused by the pandemic, no Open Day was possible in 2020. The risks considered last year remain present, and therefore we will host the 2021 UCT Virtual Open Day on 22 May 2021.

This event presents an ideal opportunity to explore the vast range of undergraduate study options that UCT offers.

The opportunity to speak to someone face-to-face about the different academic programmes and what they involve is absolutely vital to making the best study choices.

All faculties and departments take part in this event, and activities include:

  • lectures by academic members of staff from the various faculties
  • information about financial assistance
  • library tours and exposure to some of the facilities on campus.

The 2021 UCT Virtual Open Day programme will run from 10:00 until 14:30. A detailed programme will be available on this page in due course.

UCT Student Recruitment Office also offers the following services to prospective students via online platforms:

Open Day

  • school talks to Grade 11 and 12 learners
  • Grade 9 subject-choice talks
  • assistance with the application procedure
  • provision of application forms
  • individual interview with applicants (and their families where requested).

To book your appointment for an individual interview, please contact Michelle Roodt at or on 021 650 4556.
